A group of Rydal Penrhos pupils paid a visit to a regional Mosque to boost their GCSE studies.

The Year 11 Religious Studies contingent took a worthwhile trip to the Llandudno Junction Mosque on Wednesday, February 5, which proved hugely beneficial for their learning ahead of a busy series of examinations in the coming months.

The visit began with Imam Mohamed greeted the group and gave us them tour of the impressive facility.

Imam Mohamed spoke in depth regarding the origins and the significance of the Qur’an, which is the central religious text of Islam that Muslims believe to be a revelation from God.

Those in attendance also got the opportunity to ask the Imam some questions that they had prepared during a recent classroom lesson on the lead-up to the visit.

These questions varied from what made him choose to be an Imam, what relations were like locally between Sunni and Shi’a Muslims, and some specific issues around Quranic teaching.

Rev’d Nick Sissons, Chaplain at Rydal Penrhos, said: “As always the Imam was knowledgeable and gracious in his responses and everyone felt they had benefited from the conversation.

“We greatly value our connection with the local Muslim community and visits like this enhance our learning tremendously and really make our understanding of Islam come alive.”
