Two Preparatory School pupil have been doing their bit to assist in producing PPE for NHS staff during the coronavirus pandemic.

Emily and Harry Nurse, Year 5 pupils at Rydal Penrhos, have been taking time during their remote learning to make protective masks with mother Fiona, who is a radiation therapist at Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan.

The department has received a large amount of PPE from a separate school project, but Emily and Harry were only too keen to help.

Fiona, said: “I just want to say a massive thank you from myself and all the other Radiation Therapists in the department at Glan Clwyd cancer centre for the masks provided by Rydal Penrhos.

“We really appreciate the hard work and dedication required to produce these masks. Emily and Harry have been missing the school and Mrs Chamberlain lots but have been busy helping me to make these masks up for the hospital – it’s great to have some helpers.

“They know they are helping to keep mummy and all the staff safe.”

This is the latest example of pupil assistance in the fight against Covid-19 across the region. Sixth Form pupil Jamie Lavery joined forces with Design Technology teacher Mark Harmsworth and technician James Bonser on a PPE project, which is making dozens of masks on a daily basis for keyworker facilities across the community.

Another brother-sister team have been busy making masks from their comfort of their own home, with Llion and Sophie Morris also taking time in-between their remote learning to aid the cause.
