It’s the biggest day of your lives and the last thing you want to be doing on the day itself is running around chasing after suppliers, making sure they set up in the areas allocated to them, keeping a track on timings throughout the day, answering any queries from suppliers and ushering guests around your venue to name a few. And you definitely don’t want to be the one who announces your arrival as the new couple, before you all sit down for your wedding breakfast!

Hiring a wedding planner is the perfect addition to your wedding day, as they are there to take away all the stresses and strains leading up to the big day and on the day itself. As a wedding planner myself, I take full responsibility for every detail of the day, so each couple I work with can relax knowing all they need to do is focus on enjoying every moment of their day.

• When it comes to looking at your seating plan use a large piece of A3 plain paper, draw on your room layout/tables in pen and then use the small page marker sticky notes to write down the name of each guest. This will then allow you to move guests around much more easily and freely before you decide on the final table plan. A word of warning, you’ll be making changes right up until the last second, so make sure you find out the latest date you need to submit your table plan to the person creating it for you.
• Some couples will look back on the day and remember how quickly it passed by, although full of happy memories they can’t remember spending time alone with each other. Which is why on Laura and Jonny’s day I whisked them away from all their guests to spend 15 minutes alone together in the bridal cottage, without anyone including myself interrupting them. If you know Laura, she’ll tell you how much they appreciated those 15 minutes together.
• Leading up to the wedding remember not to sweat the small stuff. Sometimes you can be so wrapped up in every detail that it becomes too much and adds to your stresses, rather than helping you to relax.
