SCHOOL children from across Flintshire and Wrexham were on song at a musical workshop.
Up to 50 youngsters from 20 schools joined composer Andrew Smith in writing lyrics and creating tunes ahead of a gala performance in March.
The AmaSing Fusion project is driven by Chester teacher Rachael Borman and will see pupils from across north east Wales, Cheshire, Manchester and the Wirral take to the stage at four different venues over three nights, including the William Aston Hall in Wrexham, and Chester’s Storyhouse.
The workshop took place today (Tuesday) at Coleg Cambria’s Bersham road site in Wrexham.
“I’ve always been passionate about the arts so to get these schools to join forces using all of these different art forms has been incredible,” said Rachael.
“They’ll be using art, poetry, dance, drama and music to bring it all together, with diversity and difference the overriding theme.
“Today the children have been writing and practising songs they will perform in Wrexham, and they’ve done really well.
“It’s been an opportunity for them to make friends and meet people from other schools and communities, as well as celebrating diversity. We will be raising money for special needs charities and other organisations as well, it’s a big part of this.”
She added: “I would like to thank Andrew and everyone else who has helped today – we look forward to seeing lots of people at the shows, to support the children and the message they are sharing.”
AmaSing Fusion builds on community cohesion; it is a fusion of arts, cultures and community all collaborating for a common goal, with the aim of opening up arts to children from all walks of life.
