SCHOOL pupils from across Wrexham will come together at Coleg Cambria for a celebration of music, dance and song.
AmaSing is a project designed to support the health and wellbeing of children while promoting diversity and multiculturalism.
Created by Chester teacher Rachael Borman in 2017, the award-winning initiative has already reached 40 schools in Cheshire.
This year’s festival Amasing Fusion is even more ambitious and will unite 4000 youngsters at up to 150 schools across Wrexham and Flintshire, Manchester, Cheshire and the Wirral.
As part of the celebrations, Coleg Cambria will host a series of arts and music workshops, the first of which will be held at its Bersham Road site in Wrexham tomorrow (July 16).
“AmaSing is passionate about keeping arts alive in schools and supporting arts for all communities, so we thank Coleg Cambria for their support,” said Rachael.
“The first music workshop involving 40 children from 20 different primary schools and professional composer Andrew J Smith will allow participants to compose and create a new song which will be sung by all the children at our shows in March 2020.
“This song will also be learnt by all the other children in other areas taking part in the AmaSing projects in 2020 – watch this space!”
She added: “AmaSing Fusion will build on community cohesion; it is a fusion of arts, cultures and community all collaborating together for a common goal.
“It aims to open up arts to children from all walks of life and show that all communities can excel together to create something that everyone can be proud of.”
Following the workshops, participants will have the opportunity to perform in a professional venue, including the William Aston Hall in Wrexham, and Storyhouse in Chester.
